Wow! After 15 inches of rain, the house barely escaped flooding with a foot of water in our indoor/outdoor room rising almost to the home and then retreating. We were lucky with many homes in the area evacuated and flooded badly. The baseball field where Ian practices has water at the rooftop level of the bathrooms! Here are some great pictures here. The joy of homeschooling is...we added hurricanes to our reading/comprehension fun today. We learned about naming hurricanes, categories and lots of other interesting information. Did you know that hurricane names repeat every 6 years? How about that the hurricane in Galveston in 1900 caused 4 times more deaths than Katrina? Very interesting! I'm learning as much as they are sometimes.
We are still in Elizabethan times, now delving into the works of Shakespeare. We are listening/reading to adaptations for children for A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Taming of the Shrew.
Unfortunately, we had to miss Fencing and Chess Club because of the flooding, but the kids took it in stride with fun learning, a game of Totally Gross (gross science fun!!!) and making Ooblek (a non-Newton compound with both liquid and solid properties) Great day!!!!!
I love my job and my sweet/stinky children. They are now nicknamed the 3 little pigs!!!!! :)
